A group of about 30 Americans with diverse political leanings recently embarked on a rafting trip along a North Carolina river. The goal of the journey wasn't to change minds or persuade anyone to any point of view, but simply to forge connections across a seemingly widening divide. Major Garrett has the story.
In a time when America feels chaotic and divided, participants from diverse backgrounds came together for a R.A.F.T.* for America trip on the Ocoee River in Tennessee. This wasn’t just about whitewater rafting—it was about having real conversations, listening, and discovering shared values. From political moderates to those leaning left or right, everyone found common ground amidst the rapids. Nature set the stage for genuine dialogue, allowing each person to reflect, connect, and challenge their perspectives. It was a powerful reminder that while we may come from different places, we’re all navigating the same river—and we’re better when we paddle together. 🌊🤝

Our recent R.A.F.T.* for America trip on the Nantahala River in Bryson City, North Carolina brought together 36 participants from diverse political and personal backgrounds for an unforgettable experience. 🌍 Watch as Democrats, Republicans, and everyone in between hit the rapids in this unique adventure where strangers from opposite sides of the political spectrum come together to swap ideas (and maybe a few splashes) in the spirit of fun, trust, and civil conversation. 🤝 See how we break down stereotypes, share laughs, and prove that even in today’s divided world, we can all be friends – especially when there’s a river involved! 🌊😄

Team Democracy is partnering with whitewater rafting outfitters from coast to coast to lead a series of whitewater rafting expeditions on some of the most extraordinary whitewater rivers in America, putting folks from opposite sides of the political aisle in the same boat.
Weatherly, Carbon Co. — Sunday R.A.F.T. (Reuniting America by Fostering Trust) for America and Whitewater Challengers in Weatherly held a rafting event.
The event was held to help demonstrate that Americans are all in the same boat together regardless of their differences and political viewpoints.

This is what R.A.F.T.* is all about – building relationships and fostering understanding one adventure at a time. 🌟Join us in celebrating the power of dialogue and the beauty of unity.
